School Closure 13.01.21

Dear Families,

It is with great frustration that I and our Trust leadership have had to make the difficult decision to close Courtlands.  We will be closed to pupils and I hope to be able to safely reopen to those pupils who have been attending during this current lock down on Tuesday 19th January.

The reason for this is that whilst I have been able to source testing equipment, train staff, and allocate resources to undertaking the tests, we are currently unable to register the tests with NHS Test and Trace, meaning they are not legally valid at present.  I am working as fast as I can to resolve this issue, but in speaking to my secondary school head teacher colleagues, some of them are suffering similar issues.  I would also like to thank my colleagues at ACE schools for the kind donation of the equipment, as without it we would definitely be closed for the whole of next week.

Believe me, I am as upset at this decision as many of you will be, and I recognise the disruption this may cause to you and your children, but I and our trust are legally obliged to run a safe school, and with the numbers currently self-isolating, this simply isn’t possible.

Many thanks,

Lee Earnshaw
